Rolex ‘Coke’ GMT Master II

First launched in 1955 and originally designed for professional use by airline pilots, the GMT-Master became a huge hit with travellers. It shows two time zones simultaneously – being of great benefit to those travelling across continents and time zones. GMT, of course, stands for Greenwich Mean Time, which marks solar time at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London – the original meridian used for calculating longitude and determining different time zones around the world. The ceramic bezel on the GMT-Master II is quite a work of art – the two colours combine on a single piece ceramic component, which was a world first for Rolex.

Did you know?… It takes 40 hours to produce each two-colour CERACHROM [that’s Rolex-speak for ceramic] bezel.
The CERACHROM bezel, introduced in 2005, has the advantage of being virtually scratch-proof, highly corrosion resistant, and its colour is unaffected by ultraviolet rays. Its diamond-polished surface presents an exceptional lustre.

These Rolex watches are highly desirable and this is a lovely example.
